Summer Camp Music Festival 2019 Lineup is here!

Summer Camp Music Festival 2019 Lineup is here!

For some, Memorial Day means firing up the barbecue, cracking a few cold ones, and snuggling up to watch fireworks with some friends.  For others, Memorial Day is the annual road trip out to Chillicothe, Illinois with a team of festie besties, ready to jump and jam to 72+ hours of live music.  For most Scampers, Summer Camp isn't just any other music festival.  It's home. It's the number one fest of their year. Scampers around the states wait all year for a day like today: the day the phase 1 line up drops.

While it's obvious we'll be blessed with 3 (technically 4) days of Umphrey's McGee, a 20-year old, local band that Grassroots has worked with for years, and moe, a 29-year old jam band from New York, we wonder who else might bless our ears and souls this summer. So what are we looking at this year, so far? Pure gold.

Summer Camp Grassroots

Sax-and-drummer duo, Big Gigantic, is the first headliner on the lineup. Most well-known for their electronic soul, funk, and jam, this duo has toured the world but was missed by many in recent Scamp years. Grassroots had the pleasure of covering their 7th Rowdytown at Red Rocks this year and have collaborated on merch in the past. Also headlining this year are Dubstep legends, Zeds Dead! The Deadbeats duo has played Scamp before, but this will be their first year headlining the festival!  As huge fans of DC and Hooks (and Hooks's art) since hosting the Deadbeats Pop-Up at Grassroots Chicago last year, we're super proud of the Deadbeats gents and can't wait to catch their set this year!

Another artist that caught our attention is Gramatik.  He's no newbie in the Scamp scene, as the electro-hip hop artist has played at Three Sisters Park before, including exclusive Red Barn sets in years past. Having recently released his 5th Street Bangerz album, we'll be at his set for sure!

Even More to Drool Over...

Manic Focus, another electronic artist, known for crazy flips and jams is also on the Phase 1 lineup. This is the first year Space Jesus is officially on the lineup, bringing beats and bass we're sure to be talking about for years to come. The Squabtrain is rollin in hot! SunSquabi is also playing this year and we've got the perfect hat for you to rock when you go! Daddy of Dubstep, Borgore, as well as melodic dance artist, Flux Pavillion are also featured on Phase 1's lineup. Mersiv, who's set is tonight, 12/21, at Concord Music Hall in Chicago, another artist on our must-see list! Aqueous, Eprom, Maddy O'Neal, Papdosio, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Shiba San, Russ Liquid Test... all incredible artists on our radar that we cannot wait to catch out in Chillicothe!

First-year Scamper? Here's the Scoop

Summer Camp Music Festival has over 7 stages for guests to access including “The Red Barn”, a stage for exclusive late-night sets by headliners and special guests. Summer Camp is devoted to the arts; featuring live-art galleries, workshops, and surprise pop-up installations around Three Sisters Park.  Traditionally, the festival hosted jam bands and live acts, but more recently has become diverse, hosting top-notch artists from EDM, hip-hop, rap, bluegrass, and other genres.  While some die-hard Scampers will pride themselves in attending only live sets, we encourage you to hit up all the stages and enjoy the A-list artists from all genres!

Grassroots California sponsors the festival, creating official merchandise for the fest.  Additionally, we represent in person at the festival as the only vendor "in the Forest", hosting pop-up, live artists, and of course, our merchandise available for purchase all weekend long!  Be sure to stop by our booth this summer to check out our newest merch, live painters (such as Vincent Gordon pictured below!), and special surprises!

And if all the music wasn't enough, Scampers can join one of four color teams and participate in Field Day: a team-based, color war event. Participants compete in tug-o-war, a donut-eating contest, dodgeball tournament, etc., in hopes of winning a year of bragging rights and a celebratory kegger. Not only is Summer Camp committed to bringing you the best artists and art, but the festival also prides itself in being very eco-conscious, encouraging guests to recycle and partake in “green” activities.

Early-bird Tickets have already sold out, but you can still cop 3-day GA passes for $189.50.  We also recommend upgrading to VIP with great parking, camping, showers, bathrooms, VIP Lounge access, and Red Barn sets included with your ticket!  With 4 levels to choose from, you can really kick your weekend up a few notches!  While you can't get this upgrade yet, you can get your Thursday pre-party pass to add on a whole 'nother day of music and fun to your weekend!
